Parking Charge Frequently Asked Questions
A Parking Charge is issued in two instances; the vast majority of cases (around 98%) are due to the details on a booking not matching that of an actual parking session. This means a driver has parked at the wrong location, parked outside of their booked times, or made a mistake with their vehicle registration on the booking. In these cases, the driver will have breached the Parking Contract and will need to deal with the enforcement company directly to resolve the case.
In a very small number of cases, a Parking Charge may be issued due to a technical-error with the integration between our booking system and the enforcement company. In every technical-error case, the Parking Charge will be cancelled.
Why have I received a Parking Charge when I had a booking?
In rare cases, a Parking Charge may be issued to you if you have a booking which is a result of; 1) a technical error with the enforcement whitelist, 2) a human error made with your booking, or 3) overstaying the booked duration.
I don't have a booking, can you still help with a Parking Charge I've received?
If you don't have a valid payment via YourParkingSpace for the period of your parking session, we won't be able to raise a cancellation claim for you as the outcome of the Parking Charge will be deemed as driver error by the enforcement company. To resolve this Parking Charge case, you will need to appeal the ticket directly with the enforcement company or pay the Parking Charge.
I never received a copy of my Parking Charge, I only have the debt collection notice
If your debt collection notice shows both the entry and exit dates and times of the infringement, we will be able to proceed with an investigation into the case. If your notice does not show both the entry and exit dates and times of the infringement, we will be unable to open an investigation and you will need to contact the issuing authority to obtain the full infringement details via official letter (or better yet, an copy of the original Parking Charge).
I made a mistake with the vehicle registration on my booking so the VRM on my Parking Charge is not the same as my booking
Your vehicle registration is automatically sent into the enforcement companies whitelist as per the booking dates/times. Any errors to the VRM on the booking will be deemed as driver error by the enforcement company.
❗️ Important: If the VRM on your booking is only one character wrong, the AOS Code Of Practice classifies the mistake as a "minor keying error" and states that if you appeal the Parking Charge to the issuing authority, they must cancel it.
To resolve this Parking Charge case, you will need to appeal the ticket directly with the enforcement company or pay the Parking Charge.
The dates/times on my Parking Charge are not the same as my booking
If you have parked outside of your booked dates or times, the outcome of the Parking Charge will be deemed as driver error by the enforcement company. Your booking only permits the vehicle to park between the times booked. To resolve this Parking Charge case, you will need to appeal the ticket directly with the enforcement company or pay the Parking Charge.
The location on my Parking Charge is not the same as the location my booking
If you have parked in a location different to the location confirmed to you in your booking confirmation, the outcome of the Parking Charge will be deemed as driver error by the enforcement company. Your booking only permits the vehicle to park in the booked location, including following any 'post-booking instructions' (such as with a permit or within an allocated bay) in order to park successfully without infringement. To resolve this Parking Charge case, you will need to appeal the ticket directly with the enforcement company or pay the Parking Charge.
How does YourParkingSpace cancel a Parking Charge?
YourParkingSpace has authority to sell parking spaces on behalf of the owner/operator, and within that contract has a link to the enforcement provider in order to ensure drivers that book through YourParkingSpace are appropriately whitelisted for the dates/times and vehicle booked. In the unlikely event the link fails, or the enforcement company has an error their side resulting in the vehicle not being whitelisted, YourParkingSpace is permitted to raise a cancellation on the basis of technical error. In 100% of technical-error cases, the Parking Charge is cancelled.
