I've received a Parking Charge, what do I do?

If you've received a Parking Charge from an enforcement company for parking at a location you booked/paid for via YourParkingSpace, it could be incorrectly issued!

In order to deem if a Parking Charge has been issued incorrectly, we check:

  1. The infringement location
Does the infringement location match the booked location? We review the full address and cross reference the enforcement provider who issued the ticket against the enforcement provider we are linked with to assess if you parked in the correct location.

  2. The vehicle registration
Does the VRM on the infringement notice match the VRM on the booking? We look at each character to confirm an exact match. If there is any variation between what is on the booking to what is on the Parking Charge, the ticket will be correctly issued. YourParkingSpace is contractually obligated to pass the correct VRM information to enforcement companies, and we pass that obligation to you - the driver - via our Parking Contract. Any changes to a booking are date and time stamped on our system, so if you have a monthly booking and occasionally switch the vehicle you use, we will still be able to check this for you.

💡Top Tip: If the VRM on your payment (booking) is only one character wrong, it is classified as a minor keying error on the AOS Code Of Practice which states that if you appeal this Parking Charge to the issuing authority, they must cancel it. Please see the AOS Code Changes here for more information to help with your appeal.

  3. The parking session
Do the times on the infringement notice exceed the booking times? Your vehicle is only authorised to park during the hours you've booked - no surprises there! If you arrive earlier or stay later (regardless of the total duration), you will be liable to receive a Parking Charge as it will be a breach of the car park terms as signposted by the enforcement company.

If the above all match your booking, there may have been a technical-error with the automatic integration we have with the enforcement company. Any Parking Charges issued due to a technical error will be cancelled by the enforcement company. There are no other instances where a Parking Charge can be cancelled between YourParkingSpace and the enforcement company.

If a Parking Charge is deemed to be issued correctly, our team will let you know that you we've dismissed the case with a clear reason for the dismissal. This dismissal is just an internal case dismissal, it just means that our team is unable to help you because the details on your booking don't match the actual parking session (ie. details on the Parking Charge). In this case, we outline your options, typically they are to a) pay the Parking Charge or b) appeal the Parking Charge with the issuing authority.
